Esther Okanlawon is from Nigeria and emigrated to the United States
after high school. Esther’s higher education started at Prince Georges College in Largo, Maryland, where she obtained an associate's degree in nursing. She moved to New York and worked as a nurse in home care setting before pursuing a bachelor's degree in nursing at the City University of New York-Lehman College in the Bronx.
Esther has always had passion for serving the underserved since she was young. She pursued that dream by taking a job at Fort Defiance Indian hospital in Fort Defiance, AZ, on the Navajo reservation. She was a medical-surgical nurse for two years providing care to the Navajo Native Americans before obtaining a master’s degree in nursing at Frontier Nursing University. She worked as a family nurse practitioner at the same Indian hospital for about a year before moving with her family to Denver, Colorado. She has worked in primary care, physical medicine and rehab, urgent care for the little clinic before working in addiction medicine at Magnolia in 2018.
Esther is happily married to her husband who is a pharmacist and they have two children. She loves traveling with her family and enjoys walking and hiking the beautiful Colorado landscapes.
